Abstract
813,408. Batteries. ELECTRIC STORAGE BATTERY CO. July 31, 1956, No. 23565/56. Class 53. Active material for the negative plate of a zinc-silver battery consists of a mixture of zinc oxide and dry powdered potassium hydroxide, sodium hydroxide or lithium hydroxide, the mixture being exposed to the air till it has absorbed from 0.5 to 25 per cent of moisture. Alternatively, water within these limits may be added to the mixture. The plate is made by placing the mixture in a mould with a perforated zinc sheet and a silver wire and subjecting it to pressure. The zinc sheet may be omitted in which case powdered zinc is included in the mixture to increase its conductivity. Specification 751,320 is referred to.
