Abstract

812,042. Drying apparatus. SVENSKA FLAKTFABRIKEN, A. B. Aug. 29, 1957 [Sept. 6, 1956], No. 27250/57. Class 34(2) Sheet material, e.g. wallboard, is dried whilst being passed through a tunnel 7 first counter-current to a circulating hot air stream and then co-current with a similar stream, each stream arising from a set of superposed fans 19, Fig. 2, disposed in a channel 8 alongside the tunnel. Wet sheets are fed into the tunnel, in which are disposed a series of superposed roller tables or conveyers, by a roller table 1, feeding hoist 2 with roller table 3 and a stationary feeding rack 4, and are discharged therefrom through a rack 13 and a hoist 15. A fan 12 cools the hot discharging material. The air streams are heated inside the drier and part of the hot moistureladen air is continuously exhausted through channels and ducts 5a, 5, and 6a, 6, whilst fresh air, which may be heated in an exchanger through which the exhaust air is passed, is added to the streams through ducts and channels 6, 6a, and 10, 10a. The fan sets may be located in the channel 8 nearer the feeding and discharge ends of the drier, respectively.
