A collapsible box 4 of the kind wherein the outer surfaces of the cover 5 and bottom 16 remain outside both in the erected and collapsed position, has its cover 5 connected to the rear wall by two connecting arms 2 that are pivoted at both ends, the pivot joints 7 at one end of the two arms 2 being rigidly mounted at one level on one part while the joints 10 at the other end of the two arms are movably mounted on the other part, for example, by being slidably guided in elongated slots 14. The arms 2 preferably extend between downwardly formed side walls of the cover 5 and the corresponding outer walls of the container. The arms 2 are connected with each other by a cross-arm and stops may be included to limit their movement.
