Abstract

801,252. Tractor winches. COOKE, Ltd., C., and COOKE, E. E. Oct. 11, 1956 [Oct. 4, 1955], No. 28288/55. Class 78 (4). A winch for a tractor 50 comprises a heavyduty drum 1 and a light-duty drum 15, both of which are drivable from each of shafts 4 and 5. Thus mainshaft 4 drives layshaft 5 through chain 6, so that drum 1 may be driven by shaft 4 through sliding pinion 9 or by shaft 5 through sliding pinion 10, the change of pinion being effected by gear change lever 11. Drum 15 is driven from shaft 5 through chain 22, shaft 16 and dog clutch 25, the latter being operated by lever 26, and is braked by lever 28. The ground anchor 29 (not shown) is operated by a cable passing over a third winch drum 30 loosely mounted on shaft 5, its clutch 35 and brake 33 being operated jointly by lever 34.
