Abstract

765,419. Venetian blinds. VENETIAN VOGUE, Ltd. (Aktieselskabet Stanso). March 1, 1955, No. 6042/55. Class 20(3) A Venetian blind of the kind in which slats 8 have tapes 6 attached to carrier members 3 rotatably mounted above the base of a top board structure 1, the base having slots 7 through which the tapes pass, is characterized in that each carrier member 3 has a part cylindrical surface and anchorge means disposed at lesser radius than the cylindrical surface from the axis of said carrier member so that during at least a major part of the turning movement of the carrier member to tilt and close the blind, one tape is supported by said part cylindrical surface and the opposite tape is suspended directly from the anchorage means. During the latter part of the turning movement beyond 180 degrees, Fig. 7, the blind is lifted to bring the upper edge of the top slat 8 into contact with, or close proximity to, the top board structure 1, the tape extending directly from the anchorage means going slack due to the reduced lifting movement at the lesser radius so that the slats 8 suspended from the other tape can assume a vertical position. The top board structure is provided with cradles 2, one only being shown Fig. 1, for the rotatable support of the carrier members 3 which are of semi-cylindrical shape and are mounted on a shaft having squared end portions 4. Each pair of tapes, which pass through slots 7 in the top board 1, is screwed to a double hairpin type pin 5 arranged between arms which project from the ends of the corresponding carrier member, the width apart of adjacent edges of the slots 7 being substantially less than the diameter of the half cylindrical carrier member. Cords 9 passing through a locking device 10 are used for raising the blind.
