Abstract
762,574. Planting machines; root crop topping machines. HANNOVERSCHE MASCHINENBAUAKT.-GES. VORM. G. EGESTORFF, HANOMAG. March 6, 1953, No. 6230/53. Classes 6(1) and 6(3). An agricultural tractor is equipped with forwardly extending arms 2 arranged to receive interchangeable implements and planting means which may be supplemented by working means provided at the rear of the tractor. As shown in Fig. 2 a transverse bar 17 is suspended from the arms 2 and is equipped with plant hole diggers 18. Potatoes are placed in the holes made by the diggers by operators seated on a frame 5 provided with a hooper 8 and shares 9 for covering the holes. The diggers 18 may be replaced by a frame carrying seats for workers. As shown in Fig. 8 the diggers 18 are replaced by a beet topping unit comprising a beet topper 35 supported by wheels 36 and driven by belt drive from a pulley 24 on the tractor. Shares 20, 22 guide the foliage into reach of the topper 35. The arms 2 are raised or lowered by means of a hydraulic cylinder 27. The frames at the front and rear of the tractor may be arranged so that the workers are in a prone position for planting and cultivating crops by hand.
