Abstract
751,050. Utilizing solar heat. GARDNER, A. L. May 21, 1954, No. 15091 /54. Class 64(2). A number of plane surfaces such as mirrors 4 for reflecting solar rays are arranged so that the reflected rays are concentrated on an area, e.g. on a cooking pot 9, the mirrors being arranged in groups each on a rod 3, the rods being adjustable for bringing the focal areas of the groups into coincidence. The rods are arranged parallel to one another with their ends rotatably mounted in side bars 1, 2 so that the focus F of each group can be swung about the rod axis. Pegs or brackets (not shown) support the mirrors at varying inclinations along each rod 3 and the whole apparatus forms a portable frame which is placed on the ground for use. The rods 3 may be coupled for adjustment by a single device and vertical posts provided on the side bars 1, 2 for casting shadows to be used in orientating the apparatus.
