Abstract
739,960. Borehole apparatus. CURTIS, L. C. March 18, 1954, No. 7907/54. Class 85. A core sampler comprises a hollow steel cutting bit 11 screwed into the lower end of a core barrel 20 and outwardly tapered at the upper end of its inner surface 14, to cooperate with a core lifter 21, and an adaptor 25 at the upper end for fitting into the chuck of a percussive rock drill. The bit 11 has a number of hard metal inserts 15 shaped to form a series of cutting and reaming edges, and also sludgeflushing slots and water-flushing slots on its outer and inner surfaces respectively.
