Abstract

734,449. Positive clutches. EBERSPACHER, H., [trading as EBERSPACHER, . J.]. April 27, 1953 [May 8, 1952], No. 11558/53. Class 80 (2). In an electromagnetic positive clutch, the hollow driving- shaft 1 surrounds the driven shaft 2 and both shafts are disposed on the same side of the magnet 5, which latter is stationary and the other side of which is closed by a plate 14 carrying a core 13, the shaft 1 having a toothed end 8 adapted to be engaged, under the pressure of a spring 7, by the toothed end of a sleeve 3 rotatable with but axially slidable on the end of the shaft 2 within the magnet. The sleeve 3 has a flange 9 which, when the clutch is disengaged upon energization of the magnet, bears against the side of the magnet to brake the shaft 2.
