Abstract
729,022. Rubber compression springs. SOC. APPLICAZIONI GOMMA ANTIVIBRANTI S.A.G.A. SOC. PER AZIONI. Sept. 29, 1953 [Feb. 24, 1953], No. 26775/53. Class 108 (3). A rubber spring comprises a plurality of rubber rings 1 of circular crosssection (when unstressed) interposed between rigid metal parts 2 devoid of connection with one another and which when the spring is under load, compress all of the rings in series relation to one another. In a modification (Fig. 3, not shown), the crosssection of each ring-locating recess is dishshaped. In a further modification (Fig. 2; not shown) alternate rings are of different diameter the plates 2 being recessed accordingly. In operation, a certain degree of friction damping is present, due to relative movement between the rings 1 and the metal parts 2. The rings may be located by means of ribs or projections in the metal parts, which engage notches or grooves in the rings 1. Alternatively, notches in the metal parts may engage ribs on the rings.
