Abstract
727,643. Bracelet clasps. THOMSON, H. A. Jan. 29, 1951 [Feb. 3, 1950 ; Nov. 23, 1950; Jan. 1, 1951], Nos. 2844/50, 28672/50 and 18/51. Class 43. A clasp for a bracelet or band having at one end a bail fitting, e.g. a band or bracelet attached at one end to a bail of a wrist watch with the other bail of the watch providing in effect the bail fitting at the one end of the band, comprises a curved strut member 1 and a tie member 2 of substantially rigid material hinged together, the band being secured to the free end 3 of the strut member 1 while the free end of the tie member 2 has a portion 8 to engage over the bail fitting of the band and the two members having resilient inter-engaging means to hold them in the foldeddown position. The strut member may be of double-wire T-form so that the two wires of its shank can snap over the head of a stud 7 to hold the clasp in folded position. In the form shown in Fig. 3 both the strut 10 and tie member 12 are of sheet metal with the tie member having turnedup side flanges 16 apertured at 17 to serve as detent holding means for lateral lugs 18 on the strut member 10. Alternatively the flanges 16 may have undercut ends beneath which the lugs 18, Fig. 3, or the T-head 3, Fig. 1, can engage.
