Electrical or mechanical connections are made by means of fusion welding, soldering, sintering or the like in such manner that the parts to be connected are subjected at the contact point to a locally concentrated short-timed heating effected by means of an electron beam. The method can be applied to the manufacture of bolometers, thermo-couples, galvanometers or the like, and is particularly suitable for making connections to semi-conductive devices such as germanium or silicon crystals.
