Abstract

725,291. Wall-plugs. ERICSSON, G. L. Jan. 21, 1953, No. 1788/53. Class 89 (1). A device for securing articles to structures comprises a plug 3 to be inserted in a hole in a structure and having a threaded bore for a bolt 1 which has a conical part 8. The plug is slit to form a number of prongs 5, the base of each prong having a notch 3a. After inserting the plug in its hole, the bolt is screwed therein, causing the conical part to splay the prongs to penetrate the wall of the hole. The plug is polygonal and preferably square in crosssection to prevent rotation of the plug when the bolt is turned. The threaded bore is longer than the threaded and conical parts of the bolt together, and that end of the plug inserted into the hole is flat and of substantially the same diameter as the unthreaded shank of the bolt.
