716,746. Counterpanes and quilts. LEE, R. V. June 30, 1952 [May 5, 1952], No. 16420/52. Class' 142(4) [Also in Groups VI and XIII] A cover for heating or cooling part of a person's body or a person in bed is formed by joining the edges of two porous fabric sheets 2, 3, as by stitching 4, except for an opening 5 into which warm or cool air is introduced for inflation of the cover and diffusion through the sheets, the sheets being quilted by loose or flexible ties 18. The device may be shaped to a part of the body, e.g. to cylindrical form to accommodate an arm or leg, but as shown, is for use on a bed. A fan 10 inflates the cover as in Fig. 2 by means of a duct 6 and is housed in a unit 9 having an air inlet grille 11 and, optionally, a filter and an electric heater 12 controlled from a box 15 or by switches and thermostatic control on the unit. When not in use the cover folds flat and is stored in a compartment 20.
