[Also in Group XXXVIII] The motor of a polarized A.C. bell comprises a permanent bar magnet 1 having one pole adjacent the central pivot 4 of the armature 3 and the other magnetically connected to both ends of the armature 3, and a coil 6 connected to an A.C. supply and creating an alternating flux in a magnetic circuit having pole pieces 15, 16 adjacent the ends of the armature. In a modification, the pole pieces 15, 16 also serve as part of the magnetic circuit of the magnet 1.
