Abstract
703,055. Suction cleaners. HOOVER, Ltd. Aug. 26, 1952 [Sept.,1, 1951], No. 21445/52. Classes 8 (1) and 8 (2). The mouth of a generally tubular suction cleaner bag 42 is clamped within the cleaner casing 10, having a normally closed suction end cap 32 against the margin e.g., a flange 30 of an opening through which the bag is inserted, by a pilot member 43 pivoted to the casing 10 at a hinge 38 and having a tapered surface 44, 45 to expand the bag mouth; the taper 45 remote from the hinge 38 being more inclined to the filter axis than is -the taper 44. The bag 42 which is of paper is surrounded by a cloth bag 28 carrying a flanged neck securing ring 26 and a rubber gasket 31 against one face of which the out-turned neck of the bag 42 is clamped, the other face bearing against the flange 30. The clamp 43 and cap 32 are connected by a socket 36 and a sleeve 46 and thus pivot together about the hinge 38 and are secured in the closed position by a toggle clamp 39. The lower part of the cap provides a hand opening 37.
