Abstract
684,172. Road signals for controlling traffic. FREDERIKSEN, E. May 5, 1950 [May 6, 1949], No. 11216/50. Class 118 (ii) [Also in Group XV] In a traffic signal for providing the three colour combination of signals in general use, a. vertical casing 1 of square cross-section has circular apertures in each side. Inside the casing are four members comprising (1) an upper fixed part (Fig. 2) with black inner flaps acting as blinds, and apertured depending outer flaps 9, 10, coloured yellow at c, d, (2) a movable part (Fig. 3) having black flaps 17, 18, and side walls 15 coloured red at e, (3) a movable part (Fig. 4) having black flaps 19, 21, and side walls 20 coloured red at h, and (4) a lower fixed part (Fig. 5) with green flaps 23, 24, and inner flaps 25. The flaps of the movable parts are so arranged that the latter may be moved vertically in the casing 1 by operation of a pin 31 in either of slots 28 or 29. A modification, Figs. 12-17 (not shown), is operated by two pins and vertical bars, a pivoted triangular wire clip preventing the displacement vertically of more than one bar at a time.
