Abstract
671,998. Air filters. HOOVER, Ltd. Oct. 25, 1950 [Nov. 8, 1949], No. 26006/50. Class 8 (ii). [Also in Group XXV] The open neck 27 of a paper filter bag 13 is detachably and air tightly secured to the exhaust duct 18 of a suction cleaner casing 10 by the folds being pressed by one or more fingers 30 in one or more recesses 28, resulting in the slack material being taken up and the neck being drawn taut round the duct 18. Each finger 30 is pivoted at a pin 33 and has two spring arms 29 which when finger assumes a position parallel to the duct axis enters the appropriate recess 28 and are latched therein by a spring 35 engaging a slot 34. An outer filter bag cover 14 is secured at lower end to a detachable ring 17 to which is pivoted at a pin 20 an extension plate 19 of the duct 18. The upper end of the cover 14 is hooked to the cleaner handle, pivoting of which is accommodated by a flexible sleeve 24 between the ring 17 and the duct 18.
