Abstract

666,157. Cable sleeves. PYROTENAX, Ltd. Jan. 31, 1950 [March 1, 1949], No. 5557/49. Class 36. An end seal for an electric cable comprises a flexible insulating sleeve D which fits on the cable core C, a closure cylinder A<SP>1</SP> which is integral with or secured to the cable sheath A and which is packed with insulation A<SP>3</SP>, and a closure disc A<SP>4</SP> which is applied over the sleeve D and pushed into the mouth of the cylinder A<SP>1</SP> into contact with a flange D<SP>1</SP> which is integral with sleeve D. The sleeve D preferably consists of silicone rubber or neoprene, and if the cable has a plurality of conductors, each one carries a sleeve, which is tightly-fitting, at least over the inner part. The end A<SP>5</SP> of the cylinder A<SP>1</SP> is turned down over the disc A<SP>4</SP>, compressing the insulating material A<SP>3</SP>. The flange D<SP>1</SP> is thus pressed tightly against the disc A<SP>4</SP>, preventing leakage. In an alternative arrangement, the cylinder A<SP>1</SP> and disc A<SP>4</SP> may be replaced by a pot F (Fig. 4), which is screwed on to a rotary collar G abutting against a ring G<SP>1</SP> screwed to the cable sheath A.
