Abstract

A free-flowing, non-caking composition containing at least 97 per cent by weight of sodium bicarbonate and between 0.1 and 2.0 per cent by weight of magnesium carbonate or calcium carbonate or calcium hydroxyphosphate of particle size not exceeding 10 microns, is made by mixing the respective quantities of the ingredients. Basic magnesium carbonates, calcium carbonate containing stearic acid or other activating agents and, according to the Provisional Specification, insoluble mildly basic calcium or magnesium salts may be used.ALSO:A free-flowing, non-caking composition for use in baking powders contains at least 97 per cent by weight of sodium bicarbonate and between 0.1 and 2.0 per cent by weight of magnesium carbonate or calcium carbonate or calcium hydroxy phosphate of particle size not exceeding 10 microns. Basic magnesium carbonates, calcium carbonate containing stearic acid or other activating agent and, according to the Provisional Specification, insoluble mildly basic calcium or magnesium salts may be used.
