Abstract

631,524. Sheet metal nailing beams. STEVENS, A. H. (Great Lakes Steel Corporation). March 18, 1946, No. 8301. [Class 20(ii)] A one-piece sheet, metal nailing I-beam comprises two T-formations 10, 11, Fig. 1, each having laminated flange and web portions, the web laminations being corrugated and spaced to torm a nailing space 16, the free edge of one web lamination 14 being held in position by a portion of the other web lamination 15, the T-formations being connected by a single thickness of web 12 integral with the web laminations 15. The free edge may be secured by a folded lip 26 or by struck-out tongues 30, Fig. 2. Spaced elongated depressions 24 having slits 25 serve as rail guiding and receiving means. Alternatively a continuous elongated depression with nail holes may be provided.
