Abstract
628,697. Gas turbine plant. HANSEN, K. E. Sept. 19, 1947, No. 25604. [Class 110(iii)] In a gas turbine plant having one or two high-pressure stage turbines driving aircompressors and a low-pressure stage turbine providing useful power, the first or both high-pressure stage turbines are of the Francis type. The system may be open, closed or partly closed and includes an exhaust gas heat-exchanger. There may be re-heating between the turbine stages. The Francis type turbines have rotor blades 25 with which planes normal to the axis make radial sections and of which the screw surfaces increase in pitch towards the exhaust. A circular assembly of pivoted inlet guide blades 27 is provided. The turbine casing 26 is enclosed by an outer casing providing a jacket 30, 33 through which cooling air is passed. Cooling air also passes through the shafts 28 and the hollow interiors of the blades 27. Other air passes through the annular space 36 and shaft bore 37 to a space 38 and thence through hollow exhaust guide blades 39 to the space 33. All the cooling air is evacuated at 40.
