Abstract

628,102. Turbines and compressors. ATKINSON, J. Nov. 30. 1945, No. 7981/48. Divided out of 628,036. [Class 110(iii)] In axial-flow turbines and compressors the stator blades 1 are secured in rings built up of thin metal laminae 3. The rings may be spaced by solid rings 4, or, the whole inner stator may be laminated. Three blade fixings are shown. In one, the slot for the blade root 6 is cut in all but the outside laminae and the roots are secured by cross pins 3a through the outside laminae. In another, the slot is cut through all the laminae and the root 7 has shoulders 9 which are engaged by rings 8. In another, the root 10 is of the fir-tree type and extends through all the laminae. The root slots may be inclined to the axial direction. Specifications 628,100 and 628,101 are referred to.
