Abstract

624,328. Rotary cutters. SMITTEN, A. E. July 3, 1947, No. 17508. [Class 145(i)] [Also in Group XXIV] An adapter for securing to a machinespindle 10, cutting tools 15 having different - sized holes equal to or larger than the spindle-diameter, comprises a pair of collars 11, 12 fitting the spindle and each having a facial spigot 11a, 12a of different sizes and a corresponding mating socket, so as to be turnable end-for-end to provide two differentsized mounting-bosses or to mount the tool directly on the spindle, thus catering for two larger sizes of mounting holes in addition to the correct size for the spindle. The spigots may be square, hexagonal or of flatted circular cross-section, or have three different-sized keyways.
