Abstract
616,726. Scaffolding clamps. EVANS, G. L. Sept. 10, 1946, No. 27091. [Class 20(ii)] A scaffolding clamp comprises a U- shaped member 6 adapted to embrace a tube of the scaffolding structure, a yoke 9 slidably engaged within aligned slots 7, 8 in the limbs of the embracing member, a bolt 23 threaded into the yoke and imping- ing against the tube, a clamping plate 11 located about the shank of the bolt and engaging the embracing member 6, the clamping plate accommodating a tube 14 which is clamped by means of a lock-nut 24 threaded on the shank of the bolt 23. The clamping plate may engage slots in the U-shaped member 6 by means of lugs 21. One of the limbs of the U-shaped member 6 may be cranked at 16, the slot 7 being elongated into the cranked portion, so that the yoke 9, which has lugs 18 at this end, may pivot within the slot to allow disengagement of the clamp. Fig. 5 shows a modified channel-section clamping plate.
