Abstract

613,363. Centrifugal separators. HOWDEN & CO., Ltd., J., and BAENNINGER, H. June 22, 1946, No. 18815. [Class 23] A multi-stage cyclone separator has an outlet slot 11 from the primary stage 10 forming the inlet duct to the secondary stage 12. Dust-laden gases enter through an inlet 13 and are whirled upwards by vanes 16, clean gas passing out through a port 17, containing straightening vanes 18, to an outlet 19. Dust and dust-laden gas are scooped off through the slot 11 and whirled in the chamber 12, dust falling into a hopper 21 and cleaned gas passing upwards through straightening vanes 23 to the common outlet 19. Fig. 4 shows another arrangement, with a tangential inlet to the chamber 10, and the outlet slot divided into two parts 11a, 11b. Fig. 7 shows. a multicell arrangement in which a number of primary separators 10 surround a secondstage separator 12. Inlets to the separators 10 may be ports leading from a spiralshaped manifold. Two or more multi-stage units may be arranged in parallel. Specification 485,998 is referred to.
