Abstract

606,098. Wrenches. PARNET, L. March 19, 1942, No. 3679. Convention date, Jan. 30, 1941. [Class 61 (iii)] A spanner comprises a body carrying a fixed jaw 2 and handle 1, and formed with a through slide-way 3 for the slideblock 9 carrying the adjustable jaw 8, the slide - block being recessed underneath to receive a lug 16 on a locking shoe 12 having teeth adapted to engage teeth on a rack member 5 fixed in the spanner body and also having two parallel inclined surfaces 15, 15a coacting with inclined surfaces on the slide-block 9 which latter is connected by a spring 17 to the lug 16 holding the shoe in locking engagement with the rack. The shoe is released from the rack by means of a bolt 19 extending through inclined slots 20 in the slide-block 9 and through windows in the sides of the body. Suitable angles for the rack teeth and jaw and shoe inclines are specified.
