[Class 110 (iii)] [Also in Group XII] A combustion chamber for a gas turbine has a cooling jacket consisting of two co-axial chambers, the inner of which is, at one end, in communication with the flame space and with the outer chamber and which is provided at the end remote from the first-mentioned end with an inlet for the cooling air so that the cooling air cannot enter the flame space or the outer chamber until it has traversed the inner chamber. In a gas-turbine combustion chamber 1 provided with a cooling jacket consisting of two coaxial chambers 5, 6, the inner chamber 5 is first traversed by the cooling air in the direction opposite to the flow in the flame space 2. Part of the cooling air passes from the space 8 through the outer cooling chamber 6 to a space 9 where it mixes with the gases from the flame space 2 and part flows into the flame space and acts as air for combustion. The amount of air supplied for combustion can be regulated by a throttle member 11 formed as an adjustable guide blade ring which may be located in the combustion air supply, as shown, or in the cooling air supply to the chamber 6. The passages 5, 6 may be so designed, that under the design operating conditions, the amount of air flowing to the flame space is correct without the need for throttling by the member 11.
