Abstract

589,096. Gas producer fuel agitators. BISHOP, D. A., and STEIN & ATKINSON, Ltd. Feb. 13, 1945, No. 3583. [Class 51 (ii)] A rotary agitator for a gas producer comprises horizontal sweeping parts carried at the end of a short arm projecting radially from the depending shaft so as to be offset to the same side of the central axis of the producer, such parts extending laterally with respect to the arm in substantially opposite directions. Laterally extending parts 1, 2, Fig. 2, with their leading edges in front of and behind, respectively, the parallel diameter 6, are mounted in a fitting 3 on a short horizontal arm projecting radially from a stem 4 rotatable about the central axis of the producer 5. Removable stirring fingers 7, fitted in the leading edges, the agitator, and the stem may be made hollow for the passage of a coolant. The agitator may be movable vertically according the pressure on the fuel bed. The horizontal agitator members may also be shaped as shown in Figs. 3, 4. Specifications 125,932 [Class 51 (ii)], and 460,913 are referred to.
