Abstract

586,745. Electrically-heated blankets &c. STREETS, A. Sept. 7, 1944, Nos. 17130/44 and 2891/45. [Class 39 (iii)] An electrically-heated blanket pad or the like 10 has a length of flex 11 connected at one end to a heater 16 in the blanket and at its free end to a source of current, and the portion of flex in the blanket has a loop 13 projecting from the side of the blanket and carrying a switch 14 for the. heater. For double beds, the blanket has two separate heaters 16, 16a, one for each side, independently connected to a common input flex by a pair of switches mounted on loops on opposite sides of the blanket. Each heater may comprise two elements E, F connected by wires A, B, C to the switch 14 to provide three degrees of heating, the elements being connected singly, in parallel or in series. Each element may comprise three elements of different resistance. The blanket has a wide hem or flaps 15 for tucking under the mattress, or straps on the blanket and buckled under the mattress. A thin wire may be stitched into the hem of the blanket to stiffen it.
