Abstract

572,278. Stuffing-box substitutes. WILKINSON, F. C. W., and CRANE PACKING, Ltd. Dec. 24, 1943, No. 21639. [Class 122 (v)] In a shaft &c. sealing means of the kind in which a bearing ring 5 is pressed axially into contact with a co-operating surface by symmetrically disposed springs 13, each spring surrounds a rod 16 serving as a drive member between a rotating collar &c. 7 and the bearing ring 5. The springs may abut rubber rings 2, 3 which may form part of a bellows 1 or may be connected by a rigid cylindrical member. Specification 572,277 is referred to.
