565,932. Suspensory apparatus for reducing fatigue. SHIELDS, H. D. May 6, 1943, No. 7180. [Class 141] [Also in Group XIV] Suspensory apparatus for reducing fatigue of vehicle drivers, machine operatives, &c., comprises a harness or sling to support the body of the wearer with a resilient overhead suspension so arranged as to leave freedom of movement for the arms. The sling may consist of a strap 1, padded at 2, 3 where it passes under the armpits of a wearer, attached by eyes 4, 5 to chains 6, 7 which are adjustably attached, to suit the wearer, to S-hooks 8, 9 engaging swivels 10, 11 at the ends of torsion springs 12, 13 suspended from hooks 14, 15 on a bar attached,to the roof of a vehicle, or to a light superstructure on the back of a chair, stool or the like. Elastic bands with adjusters may be substituted for the chains and springs and the harness may include a chest strap with or without shoulder straps, in which case a quick-release fitting as used for parachute harness may be provided.
