Abstract
565,183. Washing glasses &c. RASE, G. J. March 1, 1943, No. 3360. [Class 138 (i)] A machine for washing glasses and similar articles comprises a cabinet 1 in which are arranged spraying devices 19, 21 for directing water on to the inside and outside of the glasses which are conveyed through the cabinet 1 by a conveyer 10 with pegs 11 or pushers for moving the glasses past the sprayers. The glasses are fed to and from the casing by gravity (roller) conveyers 23, 24, and the conveyer 20 is formed of pervious or perforated material, or may be constituted of slats connected to belts. The conveyer is driven by a crank handle 15 and gearing, and the drum 6 of the conveyer is geared to a pump 16 which delivers the water, or the water may be delivered from a main. Drying-apparatus may be provided, and in a modification an oscillating lever may advance the conveyer in one direction of its motion, and in its return movement operates the pump. In a further modification, as shown in Fig. 4, a rinsing chamber 36 is combined with a drying chamber 37, and the conveyer which is driven intermittently by a motor passes from a receiving station 42 and finally the dried glasses are removed at a delivery station 45. Two or more glasses are arranged abreast, and side guides may be provided which are especially adapted for the form in which the glasses are advanced by pushers acting on the rear edges.
