Abstract

562,456. Oil seals. ANGUS & CO., Ltd.; G., and GOODWIN, R. March 18, 1943, No. 4398. [Class 122 (v)] In an oil seal having a press fit in or on a machine part, the sealing flange c of the packing washer is pleated to increase its radial flexibility. The washer may be supported in a metal casing, Fig. 1, or may be constructed with a stiff inner or outer periphery, Fig. 2, having a press fit in or on its support. The sealing flange may be loaded by a garter spring e.
