Abstract
558,709. Magnetic iron alloys. PHILIPS LAMPS, Ltd. (Naamlooze Vennootschap Philips' Gloeilampenfabrieken.) Oct, 24, 1941, No. 13722. Drawings to Specification. [Class 82 (i)] [Also in Groups XXXV and XXII] A magnet system having at least one air gap is provided with magnetically conductive material at least a part of which is material produced by casting an alloy of positive crystal anisotropy containing a preponderance of iron and crystallized in directional columnar crystals which are oriented so that throughout the material the direction of maximum magnetic conductivity of the crystals coincides with the direction of the flux in the circuit: The alloy should contain at least 1.5 per cent. of aluminium alone, or 2.5 per cent. of silicon alone or 2 per cent. of aluminium and silicon combined, so that, as the material cools from the melting point it does not pass through any transition point other than the Curie point. Specification 522,731 is referred to.
