554,776. Moulding by extrusion. SPOONER, W. W. May 14, 1942, No. 6536. [Class 87 (ii)] In moulding human and animal foodstuffs by extrusion from a cylindrical chamber 1 through a die-plate 3, the chamber is heated by highvelocity air streams which issue from nozzles 7 and impinge on the outer surface of the cylinder. The air streams are taken up by ducts 8, 9 in a closed cycle to the inlet of a fan 11 connected by a duct 12 to the air-pressure chamber 6. Thermostatically-controlled steam or electric heating elements 13 may be disposed in the duct 12, in the fan inlet, or in both.
