547,946. Boots; gloves; handles; sporting articles. DAVIES, R. G., and AGAR, F. L. March 10, 1941. No. 3203. [Classes 17 (ii) and 141 [Also in Groups XV and XXIII] Frictional anti-slipping means for temporary association with a person's hand or an article comprise a surface of emery cloth, glass paper or the like combined with a glove or mitten, a resilient band or a cover or sheath. As shown in Fig. 1 the face 2 of the head 3 of a golf putter is carried by resilient bands 4 provided with frictional surfaces 5. Alternatively a resilient cover provided with a frictional surface may fit over the head of the club. It may be secured in position by clips or a sliding clasp. As shown in Fig. 4 the handle 10 of a golf club shaft may be covered by a resilient sheath 12 provided with adhesive strips 9 having a frictional surface 5. Gloves, Fig. 5, or mittens may be provided with frictional surfaces 14, 15, 17 secured to the palm, thumb and fingers by adhesive or stitching. The device may be applied to the striking faces of sporting articles, or handles, handwheels and levers of machinery, and to the soles and heels of footwear.
