Abstract

541,151. Hydraulic brakes. FARINA, G. May 13, 1940, No. 8599. [Class 103 (i)] In a master cylinder particularly for vehicle brakes, as described in Specification 507,989, wherein a member 2 is fitted into one end of the cylinder 1 in such a manner as to provide an annular slot 5 and an annular passage 8 for the communication of the cylinder with the reservoir when the piston 3 is in the retracted position as shown, the width of the slot 5 is determined by projections 6 on the inner end 2a of the member 2, which abut on the shoulder 1a of the cylinder. The projections extend axially to form grooves 10 which connect the passages 5, 8. The passage 8 communicates with a radial port in the cylinder, to which the reservoir is connected.
