490,971. Power - operated shavers. GENERAL SHAVER CORPORATION. Aug. 31, 1937, No. 23815. Convention date, March 2. [Class 131] A motor-driven " dry " shaving device comprises a plurality of individual pairs of multi-barred cutting elements located in the head 2 of a casing 1 having a handle integral therewith. An arm 9 actuated by the motor reciprocates a member 12 carrying a plurality of arms 13, each of which is slotted to form parallel cutter bars which move behind cutter bars 11 formed in the plurality of end walls of channels 10 of the outer shear plate. This plate may have a thickness of ten thousandths of an inch, while the side walls of each channel 10 may be spaced apart twenty-five thousandths of an inch. Spring-pressed balls 14 press the inner cutter against the outer cutter bars. The walls 40 of the casing 2 and the cap 3 diverge slightly so that when a fastening screw 4 is advanced the forward end of the cap pivots downwardly. The cutter bars 11 are thinnest near their centres, and the three sets of bars 11 are staggered relatively to one another. The slots 10 are open at both ends.
