Abstract
488,781. Centrifugal fans. STEVENS, A. H. (Sturtevant Co., B. F.) March 25, 1938, No. 9197. [Class 110 (i)] Centrifugal fans have a plurality of inclined blades 10, Fig. 2, with straight outer edges 14 in contact with a curved side plate 13. The contact portion of plate 13 is formed as a surface of a hyperboloid of revolution, and is continued as a lip 13a to co-operate with the inlet 12. The blades are carried by a back plate 11. The curvature 20, Fig. 6, of the side plate is produced by the revolution, about an axis 22 but spaced therefrom, of a line 21 representing the edge 14 which therefore contacts with the side plate along its entire length.
