Abstract

481,899. Hair clippers. HILL, H., and FOXALL, W. H. Sept. 19, 1936, No. 25568. [Class 131] An electrically operated clipper for cutting hair in the nose, ears, &c. comprises a handle 1, a bearing at one end in which are mounted a fixed shank 5, a reciprocating shank 6 formed with cutting teeth 9, 10 respectively, and a spring 11 for maintaining the shanks in sliding contact. One or both of the bearing surfaces of the fixed and movable shanks are cut away at 12, 13 to reduce friction. The shank 6 is kept in contact with a push-rod 17 by means of a spring 16 acting between fixed and loose washers 14, 15 on the shank. The push-rod 17 passes through a fixed core 21 of a solenoid 18 and is fixed to the movable core 19 thereof. Movement of the core 19 is limited by the provision thereon of a flange 23 which moves between fixed washers 24, 25 which are preferably of cork or other resilient or sounddeadening material. The solenoid is energized with alternating-current.
