Abstract
475,748. Take-up and yarn-trapping means for twisting &c. machines. OWENS, H. June 11, 1936, No. 16376. Convention date, June 17, 1935. [Class 120 (ii)] In spinning, doubling, twisting, winding, or like machines operating upon two or more strands or yarns, yarn-tensioning and trapping or cutting devices, which also serve to maintain similar tension on all the yarns and ensure an even twist, comprise arms 30a, 30b carrying guides 22a, 22b for individual yarns, independently pivoted below the yarns and adapted, upon breakage or slackening of yarn, to actuate arms 26b, 26a to effect the cutting or trapping of other yarn. The trapping-means is also operated if excessive slackness or breakage occurs in the twisted or doubled thread. The trapping or cutting surfaces may be integral with the levers carrying the guides. Slack is taken up by the levers without trapping by movement within limits determined bv the arrangement. A detector lever 64 operates the levers 26a, 26b by an arm 62 upon breakage or slackening of the thread 18.
