Abstract
468,826. Electric motors. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Feb. 12, 1937, No. 4222. Convention date, Feb. 14, 1936. [Class 35] A motor has an axially fixed squirrel cage rotor shorter in length than the stator core and the stator bore also accommodates a magnetic core controlled by the stator winding and acting as a brake. In the form shown, the spring M urges the core K into engagement with the braking surface N when the stator winding C is de-energized but when the winding is re-energized the core K is attracted and the braking terminated. The rotor D may have a magnetic mass L to improve the magnetic circuit of the axially movable core K.
