Abstract

466,706. Making boots and shoes. VERO & SONS, Ltd., J. L., and VERO, D. J. Feb. 6, 1937, No. 3609. [Class 17 (ii)] Slippers, particularly bedroom slippers, and other shoes with leather soles and high heels are made by lasting the upper inside out and securing it to a flap 3 formed by channelling a solid leather sole 1 near its edge, as shown, and the shoe is then turned. The heel end of the upper is drawn into slots 4 cut adjacent the heel portion of the sole and laid over and secured to the sole, for example by nailing. A high heel is then attached in usual manner. An inner pad provided with a steel shank stiffener may be applied to the inner surface of the heel portion of the sole, being secured by the nails which secure the overlasted margin of the heel portion of the upper. A lining of swansdown or lamb's-wool may be provided to the upper before it is attached to the sole.
