Abstract

434,170. Valve circuits. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., Electra House, Victoria Embankment, London.- (Smith, J. C.; 4618, Lafayette Avenue, Merchantville, New Jersey, U.S.A.) Feb. 26, 1934, No. 2143/35. Divided out of 427,360. [Class 40 (v)] The invention relates to a valve circuit arrangement employing a valve of the type described in the Specification 427,360, in which energy can be fed back from the auxiliary anode of the valve to the input or control grid circuit. Fig. 2 shows the arrangement of the electrodes of a valve in accordance with Specification 427,360, the screen 30 acting as a normal screen grid for the main anode 27, and also screening the latter from the auxiliary anode 28. Anode 28 is back-coupled to the signal input circuit and its circuit includes a resistance 38 of such value that the mutual conductance between control grid 26 and anode 28 is constant with large variations in the conductance of 26 and anode 27. By varying the voltage of the screen 30 the valve gain can be controlled without varying the regeneration. Fig. 3 shows the use of a modified valve as a detector-oscillator. Here an additional control grid 46 is provided in the electron stream of the main anode 42, the screen electrode 48 being somewhat modified accordingly. Oscillations are generated by back coupling the auxiliary anode 44 and inner grid 43 and these are mixed with the incoming oscillations applied to the grid 46 from circuit 54. The current limiting resis. tance 63 corresponds to 38 of Fig. 2. Specification 408,256 also is referred to.
