Abstract
421,038. Respiratory masks. DEHAN, G. DOLNE-, 37, Rue des Augustins, Liege, Belgium. June 13, 1934, No. 17555. [Class 81 (ii)] A respiratory mask 1 is made of rigid or semirigid materials, such as metal or cloth-covered rubber, and is provided with pads 2 of asbestos, rubber or other plastic substance, located where the mask touches the cheeks and in front of and behind the ears ; around the nose and mouth packing means comprising an inflatable tube 4<a>, 4b, is provided, the upper part 4<a> being rigidly secured to the mask, and the lower part 4<b>, which may be a separate unit, being attached by a strip of fabric secured along one edge to the packing and fastened along the opposite end to the mask as by press-studs, this construction permitting rolling movement of the packing over the skin and preventing chafing due to movement of the jaw. The mask contains a bifurcated air inlet tube, one limb 9<a> of which is shown, connected to an absorbent canister, and a receptacle 7 for moisture from the mouth supported opposite the lips.
