Abstract
420,560. Rotary furnaces. WATSON, J., 5, Hareshaw Road, South Wellfield, Earsdon, Northumberland. Feb. 1, 1934, No. 3391. [Class 51 (ii)] A rotary or semi-rotary furnace for melting metals is fired by end burners 4, 5, which are arranged as shown in the sectional plan to direct their flames on to the opposite middle portions of the sides of the furnace. The waste gases escape through flues 2, 3 which are spaced from the ends of the furnace to provide apertures for inspection and air supply. The furnace is of parabolic barrel form, and the tapping spout 6 is at the part with the greatest diameter.
