Abstract
398,094. Mounting grinding-wheels, cutters, &c., on shafts. RANSOME & MARLES BEARING CO., Ltd., Stanley Works, Newarkon-Trent, and HICKLING, F. O., 56, Davies Road, Nottingham. Feb. 8, 1933, No. 3885. [Class 59.] A grinding-wheel, roller, cutter, &c. mounted on a spindle has an interior diameter larger than the housing of the bearings supporting the spindle so that the wheel may be removed from the spindle by being passed over the bearing housing. As shown, the grinding- wheel a is mounted on an enlarged part of the shaft d or on a sleeve e which is keyed at m and secured to the shaft d by a nut o and screwed endplate f. The wheel is clamped between the endplate f, which may be divided, and an opposite divided plate g. The bearing cap j is removable so that when the endplate g is removed and the shaft raised the wheel a may be removed without disturbing the roller bearings c. Tapped holes l may be formed in the endplate f for the insertion of bolts to force the wheel from the sleeve.
