Abstract
393,423. Mooring-buoys. SHORT, H. O., Seaplane Works, Rochester, Kent. June 22, 1932, No. 17592. [Class 68 (i).] In a moving-buoy comprising a body portion of inflated waterproof material with a central throughway, a solid rod-like anchorage member is disposed in the throughway so as to be held in upright position by the buoy, the anchorage member being held against longitudinal movement in the buoy. As shown, the body portion is built of superposed annular elements 5a, 5b, 5c, held together by the anchorage member 7 which has rings 8 connected by threaded, swivel or other joints to hold the anchorage member and provide for connection of the mooring cable or lines. A tube of wood &c. may be placed between the member 7 and the throughway 6, and the buoy may be spherical, hemi-spherical, ovoid, &c., and have its body formed of a single element. In a modification, the anchorage member comprises a long pole held by the lateral pressure of the buoy or by stops.
