Abstract
374,540. Compound piston compressors. CASERTA, M. A.,' 943, 1st National Bank Building, Detroit, Michigan, U.S.A. March 19, 1931, No. 8453. Convention date, March 19, 1930. [Class 8 (i).] The pistons of a compound or multistage compressor are driven by shafts 1, 2 interconnected, e.g. by toothed gears, and driven at speeds inversely proportional to the pressures. The air &c. passes from the low pressure tc the high pressure cylinder through a pressure-equalizing and cooling vessel 23. The shaft 2 carries a ,rotary disc 19 controlling the passage of fluid from a port 21 to a device for starting an internal-combustion engine. The fluid is supplied through a port 22 connected, for example, to the conduit 13. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) the other shaft may operate an oil or water pump or a timer. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
